Bordeaux blends both take gold at the Bragato Awards
Being in the wine game since 1992 is paying dividends for Nick and Robyn Jones, with the announcement of some great results from the 2006 Bragato Awards. The Bragato Awards were set up to recognise winegrowers and vineyard specific blends and are very well regarded in the industry as well as the marketplace.
From the very good 2005 vintage the Mudbrick Reserve Merlot Cabernets and the Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon have both been awarded Gold Medals at the prestigious Bragato Awards. There were only two other gold medals awarded in this category so to pick up two is very gratifying for the Mudbrick wine production team of Jeff LePoidevin, vineyard manager, and Martin Pickering, winemaker. The 2005 Mudbrick Syrah was awarded silver and the 2005 Mudbrick Chardonnay a bronze, meaning every wine that Mudbrick entered featured in the medals.
Some other great results from Waiheke in this competition are certainly creating some buzz about the superb grapegrowing and winemaking on Waiheke Island.
