Mudbrick hosts Waste Resource seminar

On the 19th of March 2008 Mudbrick hosted a seminar on "Recycling your Food Waste and Growing Organically", organised by the Waste Resource Trust showcasing primarily the benefits of the "Bokashi" composting system.

Key speakers included Dr Ravi Sangakkara from Sri Lanka, Chairman of Crop Science from the University of Peradeniya, Mike Daly, Manager of NZ Nature Farming Society and Bokashi Manufacturer, Neville Burt.

There was a great turn out with 110 people attending throughout the day.
The morning session was aimed at the business sector; many local vineyards and restaurant owners attending. Also present were council memebers from Rodney, Auckland and the North Shore.

The afternoon was aimed more at the householders, seed savers and horticulturists.
We had great feedback from all.

It was a very successful day and the presenters used Mudbrick to demonstrate the benefits of a working system. As a result, other restaurants and vineyards also want to install the bokashi composting system.
