Gold Medal for Reserve Chardonnay

It's wine awards season! and the results are in for the first of the big annual wine shows in New Zealand - The Bragato Wine Awards.

Mudbrick is proud to announce that a gold medal has been awarded to our Waiheke Island  Reserve Chardonnay 2008 - With tough judging this year, it also happens to be the only gold medal awarded in it's class. Our winemaker Martin Pickering is very happy with the result. Martin noted that it's a tough class to be in, with virtually every other region in New Zealand producing Chardonnay as well. It's great to know Waiheke can compete against Hawke's Bay, Gisbourne, Marlborough and Central Otago... and come out on top.

The wine has been praised for having layers of complexity developed though barrel fermentation,  while still retaining refined structure and subtle fruit.

The Mudbrick Shepherd's Point Syrah 2008 was awarded a silver medal in the same competition, which also happened to be the top medal handed out for it's category.

These wines have been selling fast, but if you are interested in purchasing some for yourself, they are both available though our online order form.
