Mudbrick Vineyard is celebrating the release of it’s first ultra premium wine, “Velvet”. So-named due to it’s decadently rich texture, “Velvet” is a seductive wine, only produced in the most special of vintages, recommended where it is important to make a good impression. The blend remains a secret, created with texture and opulence at the forefront of the winemakers mind, and nature determines which years it will be made only when the fruit is as it’s best.
Mudbrick owners Nick and Robyn Jones felt the stunning 2008 vintage was the appropriate time to launch this wine after 17 years of perfecting the growing and making of wines on Waiheke.
Chief Winemaker Martin Pickering (who’s signature adorns the individually numbered Velvet) enthuses that “Its fantastic that both our 2008 Syrah and our Bordeaux style blend have won a multitude of Gold Medals because Velvet is a whole step above these wines”
