Mudbrick Team Wins National Wine Tasting Competition

For those who didn't believe wine drinking was a competitive sport.....

Here at Mudbrick we take our wine drinking seriously! First Glass Wine Options is an annual competition that Mudbrick takes part in along with an average of 40 - 50 other teams from around the country. Teams consist of four members who have to accurately determine the country of origin, variety, age and label of the "blind" wine poured in front of them. The teams get four white wines and four red wines that they answer as a team, plus four bonus wines that have to be answered by only one member of the team... not an easy task!

Serious deliberation during the sudden death taste off for 1st place....

Mudbrick has participated for quite a few years now, occasionally winning the trade section and best dressed, but this year Robyn Jones, Nick Jones, Winemaker Martin Pickering and Sommelier James Porter took out the big prize! First over all and first in the trade section. Each of them winning a bottle of vintage Champagne and Penfolds the Grange.

Mudbrick team two consisted of Restaurant Manager - Karen Armstrong, Marketing Manager - Brooke Robinson, Vineyard Manager - Ryan Gourdin and Floor Manager - Jason Collins who picked up second place in the trade section and third overall.  All those hours of rigorous "training" sessions paid off!
