Mudbrick Bordeaux blends from 2010 have been receiving rave reviews from top New Zealand magazines and wine writers.
Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, which took out the trophy at the Air New Zealand wine awards in 2011 has recently received a score of 95/100 by Bob Campbell MW.
The Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2010 that was released in July has really impressed the wine press. In the September issue of Cuisine Magazine it was awarded 4.5 stars, one of only 3 wines to be given this distinction.
Bob Campbell MW gave this wine 96/100, the highest score he has ever given for a Waiheke wine and had this to say about it:
‘I loved the Merlot dominant version of this label but marginally prefer this wine for its greater Cabernet Sauvignon influence which gives the wine an appealing blackberry and cedar wood character on top of a whole range of other berry and spice flavours. It is powerful, focused and long. Great wine with impressive cellaring potential’.
The Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon is available at the Cellar Door and online for $45 per bottle and the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon /Merlot is $52 per bottle.
